About Me

Paulo Domínguez graduated in Physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). During his degree, he received a Summer Fellowship from the USC Materials Institute and a Collaboration Fellowship awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Condensed Matter Physics and Biological Systems at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

While working on his Master’s thesis, titled “Modeling of Astrochemistry of Prebiotic Interest through the Lens of Complexity Science,” he carried out a research stay at the Centro de Astrobiología, under the supervision of Dr. Jacobo Aguirre and funded by a JAE Intro fellowship from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He is currently pursuing his doctoral thesis at the Centro de Astrobiología, thanks to a PIF 2025 predoctoral contract, under the supervision of Drs. Jacobo Aguirre and Raúl Guantes.

His research focuses on the study of chemical complexity in space and its relationship to the origin of life, through the application of network science and data science tools. In particular, he studies astrochemical networks as systems characterized by a high degree of parametric hierarchy, as well as their implications for understanding modern astrochemistry.

I participated as a speaker in the 2026 XL RSEF Physics Biennial, held at Universidad de Sevilla, from July 20 to July 24.
I participated as a speaker in the International Workshop on Complex Systems and Applications, held at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, from June 10 to June 12.
I also gave a talk and chaired the 2025–2026 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Doctoral Programme in Condensed Matter Physics, Nanoscience and Biophysics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid on May 26.
I presented a poster at the 17th International Conference on Complex Networks (COMPLENET 2026) in Zaragoza on May 5.
I gave an outreach talk at Pint of Science Madrid 2026 on May 18, at Citynizer Plaza (C. de Juanelo, 17, Centro, 28012 Madrid).

I’m passionate about climbing and being in nature.

I also enjoy learning new languages and reading. I am comfortable speaking in English, French, and Italian, and I am a native speaker of Spanish and Galician. Recently, I have started learning German.
